JetBrains Matter Connects Teams and Transforms Prototyping

JetBrains has recently launched Matter, an innovative AI-driven platform designed to enhance collaboration among product teams in coding and prototyping. The company, well-known for its software development tools like IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm, created Matter to streamline the teamwork between design and development processes. This new platform aims to make coding more accessible, especially for those involved in product management and design, allowing them to work alongside developers more effectively.

According to Oleg Koverznev, the Vice President and Head of JetBrains Cloud Platform, Matter represents a new approach to how humans and AI can collaborate creatively. He emphasized that the goal is not to replace human skills but rather to extend them. The platform provides a common space where ideas can transform into functioning code, allowing teams to work together visually and in real time.

One of Matter’s key features is its integration with GitHub, which enables teams to code in isolated environments. This means that designers, product managers, and developers can link to existing repositories, make changes, and prototype applications without affecting the production code. The platform encourages experimentation by letting users input commands like “add a product review section” to see changes reflected immediately in a live preview. This function is reminiscent of design collaboration tools and offers a seamless transition from idea to implementation.
